Twisted Sistas
There are so many negative influences in the lives of young women these days. The liberalisation of the media including TV, radio, music, magazines and the internet has resulted in young girls being bombarded with messages about what it takes to be a successful woman in a modern world.
However, many of these messages are hurtful and do not lead these young ladies to developing true virtue and good character.
Twisted Sistas is a character development group for high school girls that aims to help them find worth in a world that can be very challenging. It has been based on the idea that if young ladies connect, together they can provide the positive peer support and encouragement it takes to achieve good character development. This in turn supports the work being done by parents and other significant adults.
The group meets fortnightly in the relaxed atmosphere of a Mt Cotton home.
Lady to Lady
Navigating life after school can be harder for some young ladies than others. It is a delicate time of finding out who they want to become and hopefully not making decisions that will lead to regret. Lady to Lady is a group which meets monthly to discuss topics such as ‘Find your strongest life’, ‘The lies women believe’, ‘A guide to making right choices’, ‘Becoming God’s best whilst waiting for Mr. Right’ and many other topics. The aim is to help these young ladies grow into women who not only have good self esteem but who are able to look at the future with an assured confidence.
Man 2 Man
This discipleship group for guys aims at digging below the surface of life and faith to explore issues more deeply. Nothing is off limits and conversations are often led be the enquiries of the young men in the group. Under the guidance of Axel Wagner, these young men seek to gain a better understanding of God’s role in their world, and how they can better be true disciples of Jesus.
